Who Was Sarah Boone?

What would we do without a functioning ironing board? Sarah Boone, an African American woman born a slave in North Carolina was among one of the first black women to receive a patent in United States history.

The ironing board was first patented in 1858 but Sarah's improvement of it was patented on April 26, 1892 which is known as today's standard.
